This Privacy Policy explains how When God Feels Silent ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit this website or purchase from us.

When you visit our site, the web server automatically processes:
When you make a purchase, our payment provider collects your name, email address, billing country, and payment details. We do not see or store your full payment details at any time.
When you use Your Library, our web app, we store your email address, the password you choose at checkout or in your account settings (only as a salted hash, never in readable form), the bundles you own and where they came from (an order or a code), the time you sign in, the one-time sign-in links we send you (only as a hashed value) and a record of each signed-in browser, so that you can sign out everywhere. Your night-mode choice and your favorites stay in your own browser. When you are signed in, your reading positions, your shelf layout and your 40-day journey are saved to your account, so that every device continues where you left off. Ebooks you add to Your Library yourself never reach our servers: the files, your place in them and the lines you mark stay in your browser. When you ask Bible AI about such a book, the book's title and the lines you selected travel with your question.
When you use the community in Your Library, we store what you choose to share: your community name, your bio, your website link and your Instagram and TikTok names, your profile picture, your posts and comments, who you follow, and the posts you save, vote on, report or mark as prayed for. Posts and comments are visible to every member under your community name; your email address is never shown. We also store what only you can see: your private prayer journal and daily prayer list, your highlights, notes and bookmarks, your reading positions and your 40-day journey, your Bible AI conversations if you use the membership, and, if you turn on reminders or community notifications, your browser's push address, your time zone and browser type; each notification is delivered through the push service of your browser's maker (Google, Apple or Mozilla), which sees that a message was sent but not what it says, because it is encrypted. Members can report a post or a comment; a post that several members report is hidden automatically, and we may remove posts or comments that break the community rules in our Terms of Service.
When you sign up for our free content by email, we receive the email address you enter.
At checkout you can tick an optional box to let us email you. If you tick it, we store your email address, the bundle you chose, and the time and wording of your consent, and we may send you up to 5 emails about your journey, including offers and personal discount codes, until you buy or unsubscribe. The box is never ticked for you. Every email has a 1-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops these emails at once. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
When you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name and email address and whatever you include in your message. The contact form also records your IP address and browser type with the message, so that we can deal with abuse of the form.

Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd, Judd House, 18-29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom; for customers in the United States, Paddle.com Inc.). Paddle handles the checkout, payment processing, invoicing and applicable VAT and sales tax on digital products. When you buy, your order data (name, email, billing country, payment method) is processed by Paddle under its own privacy policy, available at paddle.com/legal/privacy. Paddle shares with us the information we need to fulfill your order and provide support: your email address, your name, your country, what you bought and the order reference. Orders placed before our switch to Paddle were processed by Payhip Ltd (United Kingdom, payhip.com/privacy) on the same basis.
Our web app, Your Library (app.his-silence.com), and its database are hosted by Railway Corp. (San Francisco, USA) on servers in the European Union (Amsterdam). Railway processes the data described in section 2 on our behalf under a data processing agreement; transfers outside the EU, if any, are protected by safeguards such as EU standard contractual clauses. The devotionals, audiobooks and artworks themselves are stored in our own Google Drive and served to you by our server; Google does not receive your identity.
One-time sign-in links and other emails the app sends you (for example a purchase confirmation) are delivered by MailerSend (UAB MailerLite, Paupio g. 46, Vilnius, Lithuania), which processes your email address and delivery events (sent, delivered, bounced) under its privacy policy at mailersend.com/legal/privacy-policy. These are transactional emails you trigger yourself; they contain no marketing.
Bible AI and the image creator in Your Library are answered by an AI model that does not run on our server. When you ask Bible AI a question, your question, the lines you are reading and the earlier turns of that conversation go to the provider; a personal prayer request goes the same way; in the image creator, the photo you upload and the style you choose go to the provider, which paints the picture. Depending on our settings the provider is Google (Gemini API, Google LLC, Mountain View, USA) under its API terms, or OpenRouter, Inc. (USA), a service that forwards the request to the model's host and that we instruct to use only hosts that keep no copy of your request and do not use it for training. Your questions and the answers are stored in your account so that you can return to them, and are deleted with the account; neither the photo nor the finished picture is kept on our server, only a count of the pictures you made, unless you choose a painting as your profile picture; then a small square of it is stored like any profile picture. The legal basis is the performance of the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); you decide what you type and upload, and we ask you not to upload pictures of other people without their consent. Transfers to the USA are protected by safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or EU standard contractual clauses.
When you buy a bundle, your email address and the bundle you bought are added to our customer list at MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Vilnius, Lithuania), under its privacy policy at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy, without a further confirmation email, so that we can tell you about updates to what you bought and about related offers from us. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping in touch with our customers (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, § 7(3) UWG); you can object at any time, and every email we send through MailerLite includes an unsubscribe link that takes effect at once. MailerLite is based in the European Union. Where it uses service providers outside the EU, those transfers are covered by safeguards such as EU standard contractual clauses.
When you claim the free artwork with the scratch card, we store your email address, the time of your request and the wording you agreed to in our own database, and we send you one email with the link that confirms your address and opens the gift; no other email goes out before you click it. Because the card says that the gift includes occasional journey emails, confirming it also starts the same sequence of up to 5 emails about your journey described above for the checkout box, sent from our own server until you buy or unsubscribe; every one has a 1-click unsubscribe link, and the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Your scratch card address is not added to the MailerLite list.
Only if you enable Advertising measurement in our privacy panel does this site load the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd). The pixel tells us whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram led to visits and purchases, and it shares data such as your IP address and pages visited with Meta, which may connect this activity to your Meta account. Details are in Meta's privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy. If you reject or disable this purpose, the pixel is not loaded on the next page view. If you have enabled Advertising measurement and then buy, our server also reports the purchase to Meta through its Conversions API, with your email address and account number in hashed form, the order value and the items, your browser type and the pixel's cookie values, so that the ad behind a purchase can be measured even when your browser could not send the event itself. Without that choice, nothing is sent from our server.
To understand how many people visit this site and which parts of it they use, we run Umami Analytics (Umami Software, Inc., USA). Umami is a privacy-focused analytics service that works without cookies: it stores nothing on your device and does not track you across other websites. It does not create a profile of you, and it never receives your name, email address or order details.
For each visit, Umami records the page viewed, the referring website, and general information such as country, browser, operating system and device type. It also records anonymous events that tell us which parts of the page are used, for example when someone opens a bundle, plays the audiobook sample, or clicks through to the checkout. Your IP address is used only momentarily to work out your approximate country and to recognize repeat page views within a single visit. It is converted into an irreversible hash with a key that changes daily, and the IP address itself is never stored.
Although Umami does not set cookies, we load it only if you enable Analytics in our privacy panel. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Umami processes this data on servers in the United States under a data processing agreement with us; transfers are protected by safeguards such as EU standard contractual clauses. Umami's privacy policy is available at umami.is/privacy.
You can turn Analytics or Advertising measurement on or off at any time through Privacy choices in the shop footer. Withdrawing a choice takes effect on the next page view and does not affect checkout or access to the site.
The site stores a few small technical values in your browser's local storage: your privacy choices and whether you have already seen the gift popup. If you claim the scratch card gift, the email address you entered stays in that local storage on the device too, so the card can show your claimed gift and your discount code when you come back; clearing the site data removes it. Your privacy choice is kept for up to 12 months so that we can respect it without asking on every visit. The Meta Pixel (see above) sets cookies only with your consent. Umami sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser. Paddle may set cookies that are necessary for processing your payment. Your Library sets one strictly necessary cookie (wgsl_access, six months) that holds your signed session when you sign in, or a signed "just looking" preview when you browse the library without an account; without it the app cannot know who you are. The checkout sets a second strictly necessary cookie (wgs_purchase_setup, 1 hour) that proves your purchase while you choose your password. The app also keeps your favorites and display choices in your browser's local storage; your reading positions, your shelf layout and your journey are saved to your account when you are signed in (see section 2).
Order and invoice data is kept for as long as German tax and commercial law requires (up to 10 years under § 147 AO). Your account in Your Library and the record of what you own are kept for as long as you hold a purchase, so that your library stays open to you; you can ask us to delete them at any time, which ends your access. Email list data is kept until you unsubscribe. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes.
Your community posts and comments stay visible until you remove them or delete your account. Deleting your account removes them together with everything else in the app: your journal, your notes, your reading positions, your Bible AI conversations, your reminders and your notifications. A post hidden by reports stays invisible and is deleted with the account.

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Payments are handled entirely by our payment provider over encrypted connections; your card details never touch our systems.
Our site and products are intended for adults and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "last updated" date reflects the latest version.
